Coronavirus

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms. 


Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. 

The CDC will continue to update this list as they learn more about COVID-19. The following is a partial list of symptoms. 

  • Congestion | Runny nose
  • Cough | Chills
  • Diarrhea | Nausea | Vomiting
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue | Fever
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat

Monkeypox

Monkeypox symptoms usually start within 3 weeks of exposure to the virus. If someone has flu-like symptoms, they will usually develop a rash 1-4 days later. Know the symptoms of monkeypox and when to contact a healthcare professional.  


Monkeypox virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, the virus that causes smallpox. Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder, and monkeypox is rarely fatal. Monkeypox is not related to chickenpox. 

Other symptoms of monkeypox 

can include:

  • Chills
  • Congestion | Runny nose
  • Cough
  • Exhaustion
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Nasal congestion
  • Respiratory complications 
  • Sore throat
